Apple Sues HTC for Patent Infringement

Apple Inc. sues the manufacturer of smartphones HTC. On March 2 Apple filed complaint against HTC. The corporation which has been realeasing iPhone smartphones since 2007 believes that HTC illegally used 20 patents of Apple. These patents are relate to user interface, architecture and hardware of iPhone.
The chief of Apple Steve Jobs said that the corporation is not going to just look at how competitors are stealing its technology. Along with a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Delaware a complaint has been submitted to the International Trade Commission in the United States.
The specific patents which the matter concerns of are not mentioned in a press release of Apple. According to reviewers and analysts of IT, claims primarily affect HTC sensory smartphones, working under the control of Google Android mobile operating system. This is one of the major competitors of iPhone OS platform. In addition, HTC has produces a Google phone called Nexus One.
Apple suggests violation of their rights in a number of patents related to phones with touch screens. One of them, with the number 7479949, describes the principles of work and user interface of touchscreen devices. Steve Jobs is the first among the inventors.
HTC refused to recognize itself as the infringer of Apple patents. Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC Corporation did not violate the patents of Apple, reports AFP citing the corresponding statement of HTC representatives, posted on the web page of the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In response the representatives of HTC stated that they are not the only innovators in the market, but they are very serious about American and international patent law.
This is not the only patent dispute between Apple and competitor mobile phone producers. In October 2010 the Finnish Nokia accused Apple of illegal use of ten of its patents. In November, Apple filed a counterclaim against Nokia, which concerned 13 patents.
